12.5 CME/CE
Last day to claim credit for Pre-Conference courses: May 24, 2025
This is a 1.5-day interactive course offering advanced education about the evidence-based approaches for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating obesity in a clinical setting. The content is appropriate for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinicians-in-training, and other healthcare providers who treat patients with the disease of obesity. The four main topics of discussion will be Motivational Interviewing, Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes Management, and Meal Replacements.
On the first day, attend lectures on these four topics to learn how they intertwine with the basic concepts that define obesity as a disease, the pathophysiology of obesity, and how to evaluate patients for obesity and these adiposity related diseases. On the second day, attendees will work in breakout groups on patient cases to develop comprehensive treatment plans using interventions in all four treatment pillars: nutrition therapy, physical activity, behavioral modification, and medical interventions.
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 12.5 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.
