Dr. Mellin is a health psychologist who has been a professor at the School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco for 40 years, developing a neurophysiologic approach to stress resilience, behavior change, and obesity treatment: emotional brain training. She is a New York Times Bestselling Author of 13 books on emotional brain training (EBT) and received the American Society of Bariatric Medicine award for her early research on emotional brain training in 1988. She has a BA from the University of California Berkeley, an MA in Nutrition from San Francisco State University, and a PhD in Health Psychology from Northcentral University. Currently, she directs the Solution Foundation, which focuses on research and professional training in rewiring the emotional brain and certifying health professionals in the neuroscience and practice of EBT. Dr. Mellin is actively involved in collaborative research on EBT with researchers at UCSF and the University of Kentucky on the treatment of obesity, addiction, and trauma and maintains a clinical practice in obesity treatment.
